Overview
The Mutiny KX-IO Power and I/O Module (V-Mount) is a compact, RED-approved power and interface solution for the RED KOMODO X and V-RAPTOR cameras. It provides secure V-Mount battery integration with multiple regulated and unregulated power outputs, tally light support, Genlock, timecode, and passthrough ports. Designed, assembled, and tested in the USA, the KX-IO offers reliable performance, smart power management, and seamless accessory connectivity for professional on-set workflows.
About the Mutiny KX-IO Power & I/O Module (KOMODO X/V-RAPTOR) – VM
The KX-IO V-Mount is officially RED APPROVED!
The system is designed to allow most batteries to work with as little interference as possible with the connections on the camera. Keyways are thoughtfully planned to prevent cable collisions and for best-case use. The KX-IO V-Mount is very lightweight, compact, and built with purpose. It is recommended to use 12-amp batteries to take advantage of the power outputs provided.
The housing is made with the same durable high-impact multi-jet fusion (MJF) plastic as other Mutiny products are well known for. Designed, assembled, tested, and supported in the USA by Mutiny.
KX-IO V-Mount for KOMODO X and V-RAPTOR
The KX-IO V-Mount is compatible with both RED KOMODO X and RED V-RAPTOR cameras.
Record button built-in Tally light (red LED). To enable this feature, navigate to the camera menu, go to System Settings → GPO Function → Recording Indicator Out.
User-interchangeable V-Mount or Gold Mount plates.
2x Unregulated 2-pin OB power connectors (the connector on the battery plate is not fused; the two on the main body are fused at a total of 6 amps).
1x Fischer 3 R/S with power (11–16.4v and 6-amp total).
1x 9-pin OB EXT passthrough port (for SmallHD camera control, extra trigger, TC, GEN, etc.).
1x 5-pin OB Timecode/Genlock combo port (Ambient Style).
1x BNC Genlock + 1x 4-pin OBB CTRL RCP2 port (SmallHD, c-motion, etc.).
1x 6-pin 1B DC input/battery hot-swap port (D-Taps and 2-pin on the battery plate are powered with DC input).
6-amp total resettable digital fuse with red LED indicator (for 2x 2-pin OB and Fischer 3).
Anti-battery drain switch, allowing batteries and accessories to remain connected without draining power between uses.
Bracing plates designed for direct mounting to M4 holes on KOMODO X and for compatibility with popular top plate braces.
9-pin EXT built-in cable for connection to the camera.
SMBUS battery information support when used with RED-approved batteries (V-Mount only).
Important Notes
It is recommended to use 12A batteries with the KX-IO V-Mount to maximise power delivery to both the camera and accessories. Do not use 6A batteries, as the camera requires 3 amps, leaving only 3 amps for accessories.
The use of a shark fin with KX-IO or KOMODO X is not recommended, as the leverage on the V-Lock may cause damage if not properly supported when using long or heavy batteries.
