Overview
If you’re tired of hunching over your rig to check your shot, then the Sony FX5 EVF Mounting Kit is exactly what you need. Add a fully-articulating viewfinder setup to your build, and opening up your rig with the potential to double up the EVF and XLR Handle.
Free Movement
If you don’t like having your nose pressed up against the FX5’s power switch, or don’t want to pop a squat for every shot change, then the EVF Mounting Kit gives you more space, and more freedom. Tilt the EVF a full 360 degrees on a support rod, adjust the height along a NATO rail, and angle the entire setup closer or further from the camera body via the second rod. We can’t even articulate how much articulation you’ve got.

About the Bright Tangerine Sony FX5 EVF Mounting Kit
Secure Setups
Despite all the moving parts, everything is kept secure – and the high-grade designs will make sure nothing comes loose over time. If you’re working with a Wes Anderson-type, you’ve also got scope to be precise: the EVF will stay level to the camera at all times, preventing any unwanted Dutch angles.
Strong Connection
The FX5 EVF Cable gives you a full foot of spacing from camera to viewfinder, meaning you’ve got plenty of space for your setup. With no lag and not a dead pixel in sight, you’ll have no compromise with your EVF setup even at the extremes of spacing. If your closer-knit cables are looking messy, add some cable management to tidy things up.
Free Rigging
For the full EVF Mounting Kit, all you need is a set of M4 x 10mm screw threads. Bright Tangerine has put plenty of them on its Sony FX5 cage for you to find the right one for your build. Find the right one, and all it takes is a few twists of a Hex Key to start building your setup.
Double Up
A side benefit of shifting the EVF off the camera body is also freeing up the camera’s multifunction shoe for rigging. You could simply add your own microphone, but if you’re up for some more ambitious tinkering, you can add the FX5’s XLR Handle at the same time as the EVF. Give yourself clear vision and full 32-bit audio, all in one package.
Support Your Vision
If you don’t like the look of the EVF Mounting Kit, why not change it? The EVF Bracket doesn’t limit you to any one configuration. Add some extra height or pan-and-tilt functionality via Bright Tangerine’s range of Monitor Mounts, for a clean build. You could side-mount on the Monitor Hinge if you’re nostalgic for the FX6, or give your rig a giraffe neck with the Titan Arm 2 Ti: we’ve given you as many options as we can, but the choice is yours.
Part of the Sony FX5 System
The future is here: the Sony FX5 is the latest and greatest cinema camera, so make sure your camera has the cage it deserves. Bright Tangerine Sony FX5 accessories are all designed to the highest standard, so you always have the best camera rig for the job.
Instructions/Assembly
The Sony FX5 EVF Mounting Kit requires the base FX5 camera body and EVF as a minimum – and Bright Tangerine recommend using the Sony FX5 cage for optimised mounting. You will require a 2.5mm and 3mm Hex Key, as well a flathead screwdriver, in order to assemble the kit.
Sideways Rod Mount to Camera Cage
1. Align the M4 screws with two M4 x 10mm points on your FX5 cage.
2. Use a 3mm Hex Key in order to install it.
Rod(s) to Sideways Rod Mount
1. Loosen the winged lever clamp on the Rod Mount.
2. Insert the rod and re-tighten the clamp.
NATO Rail to Rod
1. Rotate the winged-lever clamp to loosen the bracket.
2. Slide the NATO rail rod mount onto the 15mm rod and tighten the rod bracket.
EVF Bracket to EVF
1. Align the two screws with the threads on the Bracket marked “EVF”.
2. Use a flathead screwdriver to secure the EVF to the Bracket.
EVF Cable to EVF and Bracket
1. Insert the Cable into the base of the FX5 EVF – the screws should align with the two screw threads on the centre of the Bracket.
2. Use a 2.5mm Hex Key to secure the cable in place.
NATO Rod Mount to NATO Rail
1. Loosen the clamp and slide the Rod Mount onto the NATO Rail.
2. Tighten the clamp.
Rod(s) to Rod Mount
1. Loosen the winged lever clamp on the Rod Mount.
2. Insert the rod and re-tighten the clamp.
EVF Bracket to Rod
1. Slide the EVF Bracket onto the rod.

Compatibility
The Sony FX5 EVF Mounting Kit is designed to work with the Sony FX5, with a dedicated EVF Bracket and Cable that are designed to expand the positioning options of the stock EVF solution. It requires two M4 x 10mm screw threads in order to mount, which can be found on our FX5 Top Plates and NATO Wing Grip. Alternatively, the Mounting kit can be disassembled to mount from a different compatible surface.
