Canon Announces Compact Full Frame EOS RP
Canon have today announced the EOS RP joining the EOS R in the R Series line up as a smaller, more compact, entry-level full frame mirrorless camera, perfect for travellers or those needing a much lighter setup. The RP is Canon’s smallest, lightest, full frame digital camera to date. Just as the EOS R, the RP features the RF Mount with its high speed 12-pin communication system, short back focus and wide 54mm mount diameter and can also be paired with Canon’s EF and EF-S lenses using the EF-EOS R mount adapter.
Features
2 Megapixel full frame CMOS sensor
Lightweight body with magnesium alloy chassis
Dual Pixel CMOS AF
4K Movie
DIGIC 8 processor
Three EF-EOS R adapter
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
The Canon RP includes a full frame 26.2MP CMOS sensor, Dual Pixel CMOS AF with 4779 selectable AF positions, a DIGIC 8 image processor and a native ISO range of 100-40000. At 485g the EOS RP is approximately 175g lighter than the EOS R. But doesn’t include the touch bar or dot-matrix LCD Screen that the EOS R does, the RP does however feature a 3 inch 1.04MP touchscreen vari-angle LCD, with 7 levels of adjustable brightness. Touch and Drag AF makes it quick and easy to select a focus point without having to take your eye away from the viewfinder, with the touchscreen LCD its as simple as pointing to the desired area of focus. The RP features a high precision 0.39 inch OLED EVF with approximately 2.36 million dots and a 22mm eye point, the brightness of the EVF and the LCD monitor can also be adjusted individually which is a first for an EOS camera.
